First Gaffe of the Campaign--I forgot to put my campaign info onto my nomination forms.
Also, give us a week or two to separate my campaign from the MBC Times
Hi folks,
Kirk Bangstad from the Minocqua Brewing Company here.
Couple housekeeping things this morning.
Yesterday I announced I was running to become Wisconsin’s next Governor, and the buzz around the country was wild.
That overwhelming support from supporters throughout the U.S. make it seem like we’ve got our act together over here, but the truth is we’re still figuring out some basic campaign plumbing.
The first thing that I need to do is to get on the ballot, which means I need to collect 2000 signatures from Wisconsin residents before June 1.
Yesterday, I sent out a link to download my nomination forms that didn’t have any of my campaign information on them, and apparently that info needs to be on the forms before people can sign their names to legally nominate me.
DOH!
Here’s a link to the UPDATED NOMINATION forms that you can download. While we barely have enough time to hire a bunch of folks to collect signatures, I believe our huge social media presence will allow us to get the signatures we need in time.
I’m hoping my supporters living in Wisconsin can download this form, sign it, get a few others to sign it as well, and then return it by mailing it to our Madison Taproom at:
Minocqua Brewing Company 2927 East Washington Avenue Madison, WI 53703
If you want to have more fun returning these sheets to us, then come on by and have a beer. We can’t get mail at our Minocqua location, but you can always drop them off in person at 329 Front Street in Minocqua.
Remember, we’re only open up in Minocqua on the weekends in May until Memorial Day Weekend when we open 7 days a week for the rest of the summer. We’re open 7 days a week in Madison.

Next,
Even though Trump sold bibles, watches, steaks, shoes, and pretty much everything else under the sun while he was running for President, I absolutely know there’s going to be a double standard when it comes to my selling stuff from the Minocqua Brewing Company/Minocqua Marketplace while running for Governor.
Luckily, if Republicans want to sue me for campaign finance violations, we have a mountain of evidence to show a judge that proves I’m not doing anything that our President hasn’t already done.
Now, while my awesome team can get our arms around what constitutes as in-kind donations, basic marketing, and unintended endorsements—I’m going to temporarily suspend publishing essays from them for awhile.
Don’t worry, I think most of them will come back once i’ve clearly separated the campaign from the Minocqua Brewing Company Times—and I think that will only take a week or two to sort out.
Last but not least,
Because the Corporate Democrats won’t allow me to use Actblue, their official fundraising platform, I haven’t figured out how to even check on how much money we’ve actually raised.
My consultant needs to give me the password!
I’ll let you know later this week when I figure out how to get into our new Stripe account, but rest assured, all of your donations will be tracked and reported appropriately to Wisconsin’s campaign finance folks—the form will just look a little different.
And as you know, it simply ain’t smart to send a mass email out with another plea for donations, so here you go:)
Thanks for reading, and thanks for sticking with the Minocqua Brewing Company and me.
Together, we’ll “Make Wisconsin Great Again, One Beer at A Time.’“

Can I sign the form at your tap room on East Washington?
If I'm not mistaken (and it's the same as Illinois), the person passing your petition form needs to sign the form they passed for you, in front of a notary, not before. Also tell them not to number the sheet. You do the numbering when you put your packet together. Also, the signatures gathered must be from registered Wisconsin voters in order to count. Good luck!
